Robert Morin is a craniofacial surgeon and plastic surgeon by trade as well as a driven person. He is passionate about changing the life of every person who requires his assistance through surgery. Morin completed a residency program in plastic surgery and general surgery at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, besides a Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. At the start of his medical career, he spent a long time pursuing a fellowship program in Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial Surgery at the aforesaid hospital in Florida. That experience inspired him to do complex reconstructive surgical procedures on the skulls and faces of both kids and adults. Further, Morin founded a nonprofit organization known as Developing Faces.
That nonprofit organizes reconstructive surgery-related missions in both South and Central America for kids born with serious facial deformities. The compassion and care of Morin for people run deep. Morin has taken part in several surgical missions for Haiti, Colombia, Guatemala, and the Philippines, thus impacting other nationals’ lives too. Recently, LA Weekly talked to him about his life and work as a surgeon.
As part of the interview, LA Weekly asked him to define himself in a way that applies to his medical profession. Morin defined himself as a precise, meticulous, effective, reliable, decisive, and intelligent person. He said that he helps people daily in any possible way. Describing himself as a person who keeps his promises, he stated it is among the most significant qualities to have in life. The aforementioned characteristics explain why Morin is a very good surgeon.
Morin is still passionate about assisting people in becoming the best versions of themselves. He said that he loves to assist people, particularly children, and finds reconstructive surgery very challenging. He is always intellectually stimulated as well as brings his vast experience and knowledge to the table daily to not only solve complex issues but also offer the best effects for his patients. A professional such as Morin’s always keeps one on their toes, which requires learning the latest in medicine. For your information, medicine is a field that constantly improves and expands. Morin always makes himself ready for a future challenge or two to aid his patients in getting the best result and experience possible for their health.
After college, Morin took a year’s break before doing research on HIV for the Mount Sinai Health System, preparing for the Medical College Admission Test® and medical school. He was part of a study that discovered an interesting substance that kept HIV from entering cells and that got featured in a peer-reviewed journal. Then, Morin spent his first medical school summer with a San Jose-based plastic surgeon. He subsequently did many clinical clerkships in trauma surgery and plastic surgery as well as spent several nights rebuilding accident victims’ faces in the ER.
There, he developed his passion for facial reconstruction-related surgery. He always wished to help kids, so his progression from craniofacial surgery into plastic surgery for children was extremely natural. Those early experiences crafted Morin’s passion for assisting kids and contributed to the doctor that he would become later in life.
Morin stated that he has long held the same amount of drive as well as always pushed himself for more and becoming a better individual. He stated that all successes are wonderful while unlocking the next objective and goal in life. Despite the good and bad experiences in his medical career, Morin never considered retiring. Instead of giving up, he stated that he would pivot and evolve.
Morin described himself as a painter and an artist who is complementary to the plastic surgery process. He also considered himself a runner and skier who always pushes himself to ascend steeper, more challenging terrain and mountains.
As an MD and an MBA holder, Morin performed surgical operations on several famous people. However, he cannot disclose the identities of those people thanks to confidentiality legislation in the US healthcare industry. You perhaps have seen the work of this specialist in rhinoplasty on television when at home. Why? Because Morin also makes guest appearances on ABC Nightline, NBC News Today, and many other reality TV shows on Bravo and TLC channels.
Ultimately, the passion of Morin is to cause the world to be a lot more wonderful place to live by improving maximum lives through surgical operations.
