LAC Discusses Potential Vaccine Requirements Related To Indoor Spaces

Vaccine requirements, Los Angeles

The Los Angeles County’s Board of Supervisors was unanimous in voting to further talk about possible vaccination requirements for indoor admission. There are 14 days for the Department of Consumer & Business Affairs (DCBA) and Public Health to report in what way these rules could work here in LAC.

A rise in the coronavirus case count could force the government to not just limit capacity but also force businesses to close down. Janice Hahn, the supervisor who authored Los Angeles County’s recent vaccination motion, said that she would like to avoid that situation. It would be a devastating situation for Los Angeles County’s workers and businesses. Therefore, Hahn recommended considering the use of all available tools to protect LAC’s residents and economy.

The other day, the City Council talked about how possible it would be to enforce a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for people who wish to get into indoor spaces. Council person Mitch O’Farrell and President of the Los Angeles City Council Nury Martinez presented the latest motion. If passed, it would require people to prove that they have got at least a dosage of an approved vaccine for access to indoor spaces.

Martinez stated that hospital employees are tired, mothers who have stopped thinking about their work lives are exhausted, and children cannot afford to lose one more school year. So, the councilperson said that the situation needs to stop. The US has three readily available and effective vaccines, so she wondered what it would take to stop the situation. Then, she urged every unvaccinated person in the US county to be vaccinated to help overcome the bad situation.

Officials in Los Angeles will gather potential options to institute the vaccination requirement before reporting back to their council. There have been no instituted vaccine mandates for activities indoors, but LAC has gone beyond California’s regulations as it mandated indoor mask use. By October 01, 2021, LAC requires every county worker to be vaccinated. The employees must demonstrate full vaccination-related proof by then if they are not exempted on religious or medical grounds.
